I’m so late in posting but celebrating for an entire week nearly killed me! Holden’s birthday was a couple Fridays ago. I snapped my last picture of our sweet sleeping baby and woke up to a darling one-year-old! He wasn’t digging the balloons in bed tradition, but after he had a full belly of milk, a room full of balloons was actually pretty fun.
We loaded up the car and headed out to Andelin Farms to hang out with some baby animals. Alpacas, emus, llamas, a giant turkey, pigs, sheep, donkeys, horse rides, baby chicks, lambs, goats…they had it all! Addie insisted on taking the real camera so she could take pictures of them. I haven’t had time to look at her pics yet, but I’m sure there must be over 100! Holden enjoyed Gram snuggles more than anything else!
After Beckett got out of school, we met Gram and Gramps for pizza. No joke, Holden ate an entire slice! He’s a bottomless pit lately! And then, back to Gram’s house for his first taste of cake. There was a brief reluctance, followed by eating it by the fist full. In case there was any doubt, we love cake!
Saturday morning, we took his 1-year pictures with Kendall. I can’t wait to see how they turned out! I have a feeling these may be my favorite kid pics yet. And, of course, there was more cake!
This past Saturday, we gathered some of our favorite friends and family for a hot air balloon-themed party. It turned out sooooo cute! But, I’m officially retiring from elaborate themed parties. After throwing four firsts, I’m spent! I must say, the cake was not my finest, but the favors…so darn cute! Pinterest is possibly the best thing ever. Oh, and PS, Addie frosted all the cookies.
Holden was in a pretty great mood the whole time. And then there was cake! We’ve created a monster!
We had such a great time celebrating our last first. Huge thanks to everyone who came out (to yet another Gibson party) to help make this awesome boy’s day so special…especially my sister, my aunt, and Shawna, Perry, and Haylee who traveled a long way to celebrate with us! I had such a good time. I think Holden did, too. What a truly amazing year it has been with our littlest blessing!
