Our Big Boy Coen

This middle child hasn’t gotten nearly enough love on this old blog lately. Isn’t he the cutest? He’s such a funny, chatty boy and he’s growing up way too fast. He’s finally trying to potty train, thanks to the iPad and has gone pee pee in the potty three times now! Yay!! We transitioned one of the cribs to a toddler bed, though I don’t think he’s slept in it yet. He’s a night wanderer and usually ends up crawling in our bed. By that point in the night, we’re too tired to argue. As I type this though, Holden and Addie are asleep in the boys room and Coen is in bed. I’m praying for a good night’s sleep!

Holden 40 Weeks

Please ignore the snot. Coen came home with a cold last weekend, and while he bounced back within a day, it’s lingering with Holden. He screamed so much on Wednesday that he gave himself laryngitis. His voice is back today, yay! He’s saying so many things this week, too. Lots of long syllable babbles, lots of “dadada…”. No “mamama…” sounds, in case you were wondering. We had his official 9-month check…29.5 inches (90th percent), 18 pounds, 14 ounces (30th percent). He started sitting himself back up from on his tummy. He had another PT session and is just being defiant with rolling. He moves forward on occasion now and is trying really hard to crawl. I don’t think he’s too far off.

2016 was not my year in terms of getting things done in a timely fashion. I tried my best but some things just didn’t work out. Like our family album…still a work in progress. So when Addie’s birthday crept up, mom guilt of not planning a party crept in and I ended up planning a combo party with her friend Giuliana after the holidays. Giuliana really wanted to do Chuck E. Cheese. I was skeptical. Any place with a giant rodent as a mascot isn’t high on my list, but I went with it. Addie said it was her best party ever. Beckett and Holden stayed home so we just had two to keep track of. Coen spent all his coins on this whack-a-mole type game. Pounding a rubber mallet on a video screen suits him. I wonder if that’s where he got the idea to bang our TV with a plastic bat last week. Hmmm. Anyway, the kids had a blast and 6 wasn’t a complete bust. Mission accomplished!

Holden 9 Months

Another wild and crazy month has gone by with this little man. He’s on the move, though still the wrong direction. He has 6 teeth, loves sticking his tongue out and spitting, babbles a ton, and has the cutest belly laugh. This past week, he had his own hour with Beckett’s PT to help him roll. I have no idea why he won’t do it. It’s so frustrating. But he’s getting closer. We’re working on reaching with both hands across midline and sitting with his legs close together. He’s very comfortable with a wide base. He’s experimenting with pulling up to stand. He can get on his knees easily but hasn’t quite figured out how to uncurl his toes when he gets all he way up.

39 week picture…Coen wouldn’t get off the chair, please ignore his butt in the picture.

How funny…38 weeks and 38 years. I’m just now realizing this coincidence 🙂

Holden was born at 38 weeks, 4 days, so we’re just a few days away from when I also realize he’s been out as long as he was in. Awww, that’s the last time I’ll be able to say that.

Today’s weekly pic sequence pretty much sums up our snowed-in life for most of the week. First I made him cry, then worked really hard for a smile before he tried to squirm off the chair.

We need to get back to our normal schedule. We’re all going a little crazy! Did I tell you last week that he has two new teeth? Four up top now. That’s about all in Holden news this week. PT was cancelled, so no progress rolling.

Beckett had one therapy this week and went to school one day. Addie’s school cancelled one day then had late start and probably early pick up today and Coen’ been home two days as well. The forecast says it’s going to stop snowing at 4am tomorrow! I think this weekend will be a repeat of the last, not that I’m complaining! I got to stay warm and cozy inside snuggling this tiny human…

And, just lumping everything into one post, we celebrated this guy turning 38 on Tuesday. It was a brief celebration as he spent the day in Vegas for work, so dinner and cake had to do this year. We have big plans to go to a UNR basketball game in the near future, so that will be his real celebration.

Holden 37 Weeks

Here we are at 37 weeks with this growing boy! I realize we missed a few over the holidays and I’ve already deleted Christmas pictures from my phone, so we’re just going pick up here. Cool? We did have a great, crazy Christmas then spent a few days in EDH. We came back Friday afternoon just in time to get Beckett’s new kid walk.

We’re almost back to our normally busy schedule. Addie went back to school Monday and Coen was back at Linda’s Tuesday. But today Addie’s school was cancelled due to snow so we kept Coen home to try out his new snowball makers this afternoon. That’s a separate post. This ones supposed to be about Holden, right!

He’s sitting up, pushing up and rocking on his knees, scooting backwards into walls. No change in sleep habits. He has two more top teeth right on the verge of breaking through. He’s discovered the fun in squealing and smacking his lips. He’s going to see Beckett’s PT next week to see if we can get him rolling.

Oh, and I guess I do have a few Christmas pics on here that I’ll just randomly dump in, since it was Holden’s first Christmas and all!
